This is a collection of items for Private Geroge Simon. He was a US..army infantry Private with the 39th Infantry who was captured by the SS at the Battle of the Bulge. His thumb was shot off during a firefight on August 8th 1944 and he and two other soldiers were captured. The SS shot one of the more badly wounded men while sending Pvt. Simon and another to the rear under guard. He spent the rest of the war as a prisoner of war until liberated in early 1945. His service records reveal that he is eligible to wear the Belgian Fourragere on his uniform.
